Adding Realistic-Looking Clouds to an Image

Friday, November 28 2008

In this tutorial, we will be looking at using PhotoShop's built-in Cloud Render filter and Quick Mask to create more realistic-looking clouds.

We will start off with the following image. Let's add a more appealing sky, including wispy clouds. The first thing we want to do is extend the image, to make more room for the sky. Goto Image > Canvas size. This image is currently 400x300, so we'll make it 400x400px:

We moved our web sites to Server Intellect and have found them to be incredibly professional. Their setup is very easy and we were up and running in no time.

We'll move the photo to the bottom, and then choose the gradient tool to recreate the sky in the gap:

We can smooth the edges with the eraser tool with a soft brush to blend the two layers a little better:

It doesn't need to be perfectly seamless, as we'll be overlaying clouds.
Next, press the Q key to go into Quick Mask mode. Then goto Filter > Render > Clouds. You should get a cloudy red look to your image:

Yes, it is possible to find a good web host. Sometimes it takes a while. After trying several, we went with Server Intellect and have been very happy. They are the most professional, customer service friendly and technically knowledgeable host we've found so far.

Now goto Filter > Render > Difference Clouds. Then press Ctrl+F to repeat this 3 or 4 (or more). You will notice the red haze change.

Now press Q to exit out of Quick Mask mode. You should be left with a selection of random pixels like so:

Choose a Marquee tool, create a New Layer and right-click the selection, then choose Fill. We want to fill with White. Press Ctrl+D to deselect when filled:

If you're looking for a really good web host, try Server Intellect - we found the setup procedure and control panel, very easy to adapt to and their IT team is awesome!

Now goto Edit > Transform > Skew, then re-arrange the clouds to match the skyline, like so:

Now all that is left to do is to erase the clouds around the foreground. Choose the erase tool with a soft brush, and erase around the foreground image:

After the mastectomies,I knew that one way to get myself going would be to start exercising again,so I headed for the local pool.In the communal shower,I found myself noticing other women‘s breasts for the first time in my life.Size-D breasts and size-A breasts, sagging breasts and perky breasts.Suddenly and for the first time, after all these years of missing a leg,I felt acutely self-conscious.I couldn‘t bring myself to undress.

I don't know why, but I could not find them that realistic as I was expecting.

I wouldn't want to depend on my hosts for help.

You're handed the application form and, a few days later, you're being handed the uniform and warned against nose rings and stealing. So what am I doing here, and in what order should I be doing it? I need a job and an apartment, but to get a job I need an address and a phone number and to get an apartment it helps to have evidence of stable employment.
