Easy Way to Create a Lightsaber
This tutorial will teach you an easy way to recreate the look of a lightsaber. We will start off with a blank, black canvas and will use an image of a lightsaber handle:

Next, use the Polygonal Lasso tool, or the Rectangular Marquee tool to make a selection that will be the blade, and fill it with White (in a new layer). You can round the edges with a Brush or Select > Modify > Smooth:

Server Intellect offers Windows Hosting Dedicated Servers at affordable prices. I'm very pleased!
Finally, open up the Layer Styles for the blade layer and add an Inner Glow and an Outer Glow. Choose your color and make the Spread and Size of the Outer Glow pretty big (20+), and the Choke of the Inner Glow should be 0, while the Size should be around 12px. Play around with the values to get the best result, as it will depend on your image and dimensions, etc.

We moved our web sites to Server Intellect and have found them to be incredibly professional. Their setup is very easy and we were up and running in no time.
As an optional, subtle effect, you can add a gradient or brush the top of the lightsaber handle to create a more atmospheric feel, because the light is so intense, it is bound to reflect off the handle. We add the reflection into its own layer, change the Blending Mode of this layer to Color, and reduced the opacity to 50%. It's a subtle change, but sometimes those are the best:

Guys, please take a look at Server Intellect for Windows Web Hosting. I'm very pleased. You will be too. Take a look and see for yourself!

Do you have your “Paths” drawn out on your effect layer? If so just take your “Pen Tool” then you will have to be on the layer in which your paths are drawn out, right click and choose stroke path. Your paths should now take on a brush stroke.

What version of Photo shop are you using? I made this tutorial with CS3 and all I needed was to check “Stimulate pressure” and it works. I didn’t change any settings on my brush, I used the default 5px brush that comes with Photoshop and it works, very strange.

Nice idea. Thanks for the tutorial. I like when the tools let us implement what we've created in our imagination. As for me, I find numerous tutorials at the pdf search engine http://pdf.rapid4me.com . It would be great to be able to download different programs as well.

While I understand WHY you (have to???) do it, it is LAME and I personally - NOR professionally - would never subscribe to such a provision: mentioning Server Intellect with every tutorial blurb. Not that I have anything bad to say about them (I know nothing), but this overabundance of mark-out is too much. No, thanks.
